
Ways to Support Victims of the L.A. Wildfires

Los Angeles County continues to battle massive wildfires that ignited across multiple locations starting Tuesday (Jan. 7), displacing over 180,000 residents. The fires have destroyed thousands of properties and tragically claimed 10 lives, while first responders work tirelessly to contain the flames.
As the crisis unfolds, numerous organizations have stepped in to collect funds and provide resources to those affected. Below is an updated list of ways you can support residents, first responders, and members of the city's music community.

Support for Families and Outdoor Workers
- LAUSD Education Emergency Relief Fund: Offering immediate assistance to families and employees of the Los Angeles Unified School District affected by the fires. This fund provides cash support, helps teachers with in-class resources, and offers mental health aid to students, families, and teachers.
- SOCAL FIRE FUND: Launched by the CAA Foundation, CORE, and the LAUSD Education Foundation, this fund focuses on long-term and immediate recovery efforts for vulnerable communities impacted by the fires. It is managed by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
- Black Music Action Coalition: Offering an immediate relief fund aimed at supporting Black residents and small businesses in LA affected by the fires. The organization will direct all funds to relief efforts as quickly as possible.
- Inclusive Action: Launched a GoFundMe campaign to provide $500 in cash relief for outdoor workers, including street vendors, landscapers, and recyclers, whose jobs require them to work outside.
- This Is About Humanity: Matching donations up to $50,000 to provide support for migrant farm workers, day laborers, and other essential workers affected by the fires. Contributions will go toward housing, food, and critical resources.
- Save the Children: Ensuring children and families receive vital supplies such as hygiene kits, blankets, flashlights, and activity kits to help children cope during these challenging times. Donations can be made to the Children’s Emergency Fund.
- The Kindness Hub: Created a volunteer spreadsheet for daily help opportunities and an Aid Tracker for those affected by the fires.
Support for First Responders
- LA Fire Department Foundation: Donations will support the brave firefighters working around the clock to protect lives and homes in LA.
- CA Fire Foundation: Collaborating with local fire agencies to provide direct financial support to residents and assist families of fallen firefighters.
- Mercy Chefs: A Virginia-based nonprofit distributing meals to victims, volunteers, firefighters, and first responders on the ground in Southern California. Support their efforts here.

- Baby2Baby: Offering emergency kits, diapers, clothing, and hygiene products to families through community partners.
- World Central Kitchen: Providing sandwiches and warm meals to first responders and families affected by the fires.
- Mutual Aid LA Network: Compiling a comprehensive list of organizations offering assistance and accepting donations through their spreadsheet.
- Instacart: Set up Community Carts banners for people to donate essential items directly to YMCAs in Los Angeles.
Support for Music Professionals
- The Recording Academy & MusiCares: Launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, pledging $1 million to support music professionals impacted by the fires. Donate here.

- The 100 Percenters: Offering financial support to professional songwriters, producers, and music professionals in LA who have been impacted by the fires. Immediate grants of up to $2,500 for housing and essentials, up to $10,000 for rebuilding efforts, and mental health grants of up to $2,000. Donate here.
- Songwriters of North America (SONA): Relaunched its Songwriters Fund to offer $500 emergency grants to songwriters and composers who have been affected by the fires. Donate here.
Mid/Long-Term Relief
- California Community Foundation Wildlife Recovery Fund: Focuses on long-term recovery efforts for those affected by the fires.
- Pasadena Community Foundation Eaton Canyon Fire Recovery and Relief Fund: Mobilizing local resources to support recovery and resilience efforts in Pasadena and Altadena.
- PLUS1LA Fires Fund: Providing ongoing support for shelter, food, hygiene items, and mental health resources to individuals and families. The fund will also help communities recover in the long term.
- Team Rubicon: Assisting with disaster response efforts, including distributing food, water, and other essential supplies to survivors.
